Bournemouth Youth Marching Band

Amici Per Musicam - Friends Through Music

BYMB Youth Awards Programme

Every youth member (school / college age - under approx 21) of the Band who participates in the Programme should face a similar degree of challenge. The requirements can be adapted according to each young person’s abilities.

In addition to the awards from the Youth Awards Programme there will be other annual Band awards for both adult and youth members as well.

Similarities and alignment with other staged youth award schemes are deliberate.

The scheme will largely run in the background during our regular meetings and performances.

The BYMB Youth Awards Programme recognises and rewards individual commitment, effort and achievement in six areas –

  1. Rehearsal
  2. Performance
  3. Discipline, deportment and turnout
  4. Skill
  5. Knowledge
  6. Interest.

Main Band members will generally start on the Programme at Level 2 or Level 3 (Bronze), Beginners and the Training Band at Level 1.

Level 1/2, 3, 4 and 5 should each take about year to complete. A minimum 70% attendance at performances and meetings each year at each of levels 3, 4 and 5 are required. in addition 15 performances are required at each of these levels.

For a Youth Member to gain an award membership subscriptions and any other membership requirements must be up to date.
