Welcome to the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band.
The Band is a registered charity. We started in 1989 as the Talbot Corps of Drums and reformed as the Bournemouth Youth Marching Band in 2013.
In addition to Band we provide all the activities and facilities expected of a youth organisation.
Our aim is to support our members personal and social development. Our youth members are at the heart of everything we do.
We work to develop life skills such as resilience, confidence, reliabilty, self-discipline, determination, commitment, leadership and character.
We welcome young musicians of all standards including beginners and we teach them everything that they need to know, The Band is also a great opportunity for more experienced young
musicians to broaden and develop their playing skills.
Adult membership (18+) is for experienced musicians and is subject to a role being available, audition, references and a DBS check. The Band's Adult members help the younger members develop their music making skills.
We play in a wide range of performances including concerts, arena displays, carnivals and parades. This makes us unique in the local area.
We provide a safe meeting place, instruments, music, uniform, tuition, training and the performance opportunities. Not to forget the range of youth activities, fun and social events as well.
We have our own Youth Awards Programme which recognises and rewards commitment, effort and
achievement.
During the last year three of our members have been accepted into the UK Armed Forces. One is with the Royal Corps of Army Music and two are with the Royal Marines Band Sevice. Join BYMB and we can help you turn a hobby into a professional musical career.
